Travel in Gaborone
In recent years, Gaborone has established itself as one of the most dynamic cities in Africa, with unprecedented growth and cultural development. Planned to be the country's capital following independence in 1966, Gaborone is now a vibrant city of near 250,000 people, measuring close to 15km from East to West. There is a definite city centre based around the train station and the government enclave of Khama Crescent. However, numerous shopping malls are dotted all over the city which has begun to decentralize the prominence of this centre.
There are many ways of getting around Gaborone, the ‘blue taxis’ are ubiquitous, as are the white mini-van taxi’s. For more information on these and places to rent cars visit the Lonely Planet Guide:
PLACES TO EAT
Due to Botswana being landlocked by four neighbouring countries, and its growing tourism trade, Gaborone offers an eclectic mix of local and exotic cuisine. Turkish and Indian influenced menus are readily found, as well as local Southern African staples.

Gabs definitely also has a few hidden gems that will discovered by talking to the friendly locals.
